Green card renewal
Renew or replace your green card.
Permanent resident cards expire every 10 years, and sometimes they're lost, stolen, or damaged before then. Form I-90 keeps your green card current — and AOSvisa will make filing it straightforward.
What Form I-90 is
Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, is how lawful permanent residents renew an expiring 10-year green card or replace one that's been lost, stolen, damaged, or has incorrect information.
Renewing your card does not change your status — you remain a permanent resident the whole time. The I-90 simply issues an up-to-date physical card, which you need for work, travel, and proving your status.
This service is for 10-year green card holders. If you have a 2-year conditional green card from marriage, you don't file I-90 to renew — you file Form I-751 to remove the conditions instead. See our Remove Conditions service.
When to file Form I-90
You generally file Form I-90 if you're a lawful permanent resident and any of these apply:
- Your 10-year green card has expired or will expire within the next six months.
- Your green card was lost, stolen, or destroyed.
- Your card is mutilated or otherwise damaged.
- Your card has incorrect information because of a USCIS error.
- Your name or other biographic information has legally changed.
- You never received a card that USCIS issued, or your card was issued under an older edition.

Green card renewal questions
- Does renewing my green card change my status?
- No. You remain a lawful permanent resident throughout. Form I-90 just gives you a current physical card.
- My card expires soon — when should I file?
- Most permanent residents file Form I-90 once the card has expired or is within six months of expiring. We don't estimate USCIS processing times — check current times at uscis.gov.
- I have a 2-year green card. Do I use I-90?
- No. A 2-year conditional card from marriage is renewed by removing conditions with Form I-751, not I-90. See our Remove Conditions service.
- What if my name changed?
- A legal name change — for example after marriage or a court order — is one of the reasons to file Form I-90 for an updated card. You'll include evidence of the change.
- Is AOSvisa a law firm?
- No. AOSvisa is self-help software and does not provide legal advice. For advice about your situation, consult a licensed immigration attorney.
AOSvisa is not a law firm

We don't provide legal advice, don't create an attorney-client relationship, and can't guarantee any outcome. Eligibility rules and processing times are set by USCIS and U.S. law.
